The House that

Tech Built

The House That Tech Built is back for 2019! Austin Habitat is partnering with community-minded tech companies looking to give back through sponsorships and team building volunteer opportunities. This collaboration builds community within the tech-sector while addressing the growing need for affordable housing. Come roll up your sleeves and work together with other great Austin tech companies to build a safe and affordable home for the Abraha/ Damtew family.

The House That Tech Built is part of our Affordable Homeownership Program, which has provided more than 445 affordable homes since our founding in 1985. Many low-income, hardworking local families struggle as the cost of housing in Austin continues to rise. We provide a path to stable homeownership and enable participants to invest in their own homes and futures.

Berhanu Damtew and Hana Abraha both moved from Ethiopia and found each other here in Austin. They love living and working here, but the high cost of housing has trapped them in a crowded and noisy apartment. With a two-year-old and a baby on the way, they are very thankful for The House That Tech Built sponsors for providing a new home with room to grow, access more work and education opportunities and fulfill their dreams!
