Economic Impact

Austin Habitat's impact is measured by far greater than the number of homes built, sold, and repaired. It is measured by the thousands of families served each year across our programs and the ripple effect of our activities. Our gross regional economic output exceeds $10 million annually. That economic activity is generated by the direct purchases of goods and services, and the compounding effect those purchases have as suppliers and partners buy materials and labor, in addition to the more than $500,000 in property taxes Habitat homeowners pay annually.

Austin Habitat's programs and services directly benefit the community and local economy.

For more detail on our economic output, check out our 2012 Economic Impact Study conducted by the Texas Association of Community Development Corporations.

The Value of a Home

A variety of housing options is critical to a thriving community and economy. There must be a balance of the number of housing units across income levels, including rental and homeownership options. However, owning a home offers a more stable and permanent solution to families working to improve their lives and the future. It provides families an opportunity to accumulate wealth and impacts substantial social and community benefits. It's more than just a place to live, it's a foundation for success.

Why Support Austin Habitat?

By building and repairing homes in partnership with low-income families, Austin Habitat has been building a better Austin since 1985.

Safe and stable homes are the foundation of successful families and communities.

The affordable housing crisis in our community forces many families to move frequently, locate further from their jobs, and live in overcrowded, deteriorating conditions.
