ReStore

The ReStore is an outlet that sells used and surplus building materials at a fraction of retail prices. This raises money for Austin Habitat and diverts materials away from landfills. Volunteers are needed to organize hardware, price donations, help customers find items, straighten displays, and more.  To volunteer at the ReStore, please complete the Austin Habitat for Humanity online volunteer registration & orientation. Once completed, please email us at [ email ].

Family Services Committees
Committee members must be 18 years of age or older.
The Family Selection Committee works with Austin Habitat applicants, serving as a resource to help them through the application process towards the goal of acceptance to the Homeownership Program.  Some of the committee's responsibilities include: conducting orientations for potential applicants, performing application intake and review, interviewing applicants, and determining applicants’ suitability for the Homeownership Program. The committee meets twice a month, and volunteers on average dedicate between 3-10 hours a month to this committee. If you would like more information about this group, please contact Jo Ropiak at [ email ] or 472-8788 ext. 115.

The Family Mentoring Committee  works with the families who have already been approved to participate in our program and are completing requirements for becoming Homeowners. As a Family Mentor, you’re expected to donate a minimum of 4-6 hrs a month. Four of those hours MUST be spent during our one-on-one meetings with our Partner Families; these meetings occur on the FIRST Saturday of EVERY month. Other mentoring opportunities include: follow-up Family Mentoring Program (FMP) meetings, data entry, family surveying, assisting with our Home Buyer Education Courses, or construction site visits. Please contact Delia Davila at [ email ] to sign up for the next available training course. Training course is required before meeting with the families.
