Construction Info » Where We Build
Currently, we are building in the Sendero neighborhood.
The Sendero Hills, Phase 4 development project will be comprised of 49 single-family homes that will help to serve Austin’s low-income community. Sendero Hills is sited on the east side of Austin between Loyola Lane and East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Located within walking distance to bus stops, a school, a day care center, a park, and other urban amenities, it holds the potential to provide sustainable housing in a growing section of Austin.
In addition, the Sendero Hills project will continue the Austin Habitat tradition of green building and has been identified as a participant of the S.M.A.R.T. Housing Initiative. ![]() Devonshire Village is comprised of 26 single-family homes that will help to serve Austin’s low-income community. The subdivision is located in the neighborhoods of University Hills and Windsor Park. It is just south of 290 East and east of Berkman Drive. The community is situated on a beautiful 10 acre wooded parcel and is located near many parks and schools. Construction of the first three homes began with an exciting blitz build in August 2008. In August 2010, we dedicated our 26th home in the neighborhood. The Devonshire community is a participant of the S.M.A.R.T. Housing Initiative. Austin Habitat purchased the land with a loan from Habitat for Humanity International. The City of Austin helped us to develop the land through Community Development Block Grant funds.
Meadow Lake ![]() ![]()
Our Meadow Lake project will be comprised of 31 single-family homes that will help to serve Austin’s low-income community. Surrounded by parks, shopping, movie theaters, public transportation, and schools, the Meadow Lake community presents a great place to call home in Southeast Austin. A young community, Meadow Lake is characterized by a unique and diverse grouping of commercial real estate, residential neighborhoods, and stunning natural resources. The Meadow Lake community is a participant of the S.M.A.R.T. Housing Initiative.
To acquire these lots, Austin Habitat received $450,708.70 in City of Austin General Obligation Bond Funds (G.O. Bond) funding; $197,500 in Self-Help Homeownership Opportunity Program (SHOP 07) funding; and $40,000 in Self-Help Homeownership Opportunity Program (SHOP 08) funding. |
